Teen Mental Health Care
& Treatment
Adolescence can be a difficult time for teenagers. From physical changes to rapid emotional development and academic pressures, there is a lot to manage. This can lead teens to feel overwhelmed, removed and sad. Sometimes, these pressures can lead to (or mask) onset symptoms of mental health issues like anxiety or depression. Seeking adolescent psychiatric care at our treatment center could be a great next step for helping your teen get back on track.
Kingwood Pines Hospital provides crisis services to adolescents ages 13 to 17. We offer multiple levels of care for young people with mental disorders and behavioral issues that may be causing problems at home and in school. Our treatment programs help teach teens how to properly cope with the pressures of life and manage their symptoms during times of crisis and increased stress. We work to stabilize their most pressing symptoms while teaching them the necessary skills to maintain a healthy mental health outlook once they leave our care.
Youth in crisis require a caring treatment team with specialized skills in therapeutic intervention, problem solving, family therapy and discharge planning. Our treatment facility’s approach to care aims to provide help and healing to teens in crisis, but also provide families with the knowledge and insight to understand their teenager and help them progress. We want parents to be equipped with the tools and the knowledge to help their teens when problems might arise at home, school, or other social situations.
Program goals are reinforced through the following modalities:
- Individual therapy
- Family and group counseling sessions
- Therapeutic recreation
- Multi-family group therapy
- Parent education and support group
- Addiction education
OUR ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIC CARE OPTIONS
Inpatient treatment is ideal for young patients who need 24-hour care or need immediate stabilization of symptoms. Our team of nurses and licensed therapists offer around-the-clock monitoring to ensure teens are making smart choices, improving their outcomes and headed toward recovery.
Adolescent treatment is also offered on an outpatient basis to accommodate the needs of adolescents stable enough to live at home during treatment. The kind of intensive outpatient treatment offered in PHP and IOP are ideal for teens who need more oversight and care than typical outpatient therapist visits offer. Treatment includes psychiatrist visits, medication management, medication education groups, process groups and individual therapy (as necessary).
ADOLESCENT OUTPATIENT PROGRAMS
The adolescent partial hospitalization program (PHP) and adolescent intensive outpatient program (IOP) are daytime therapy options for teens who do not need intensive care or for those who wish to continue treatment after an inpatient program. Both programs offer far more oversight and intensive therapy than traditional weekly visits with an outpatient counselor or therapist. Adolescent psychiatric care and treatment includes psychiatrist visits, medication management, medication education groups, process groups and individual therapy. We’ll work with patients and families to plan for aftercare and help find other outpatient providers for continued therapy.
Children’s Day Program: Monday – Friday 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Children’s Intensive Program offered up to 5 days per week: 1:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Snacks and meals included.
